WHO WE ARE

Abbreviated History Of Alive For Christ Ministries

The first official meeting of Alive For Christ Ministries (AFCM) as a church body was held Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the home of Elder Melvin and Sister Clarissa Davis. Elder Davis reminded us to dwell on trusting in God’s word; to believe that He will bless this Ministry if we let Him lead us, and to know that there is nothing too hard for God. He also asked us to keep ourselves true to the ministry and to always pray and stay strong in the Lord. Following the first meeting, there was fellowship among the eighteen (18) saints that were present on that day.

On January 18, 2011, documents were submitted and filed with the Secretary of the State of North Carolina to reserve the entity name of Alive For Christ Ministries, Inc. Articles of Incorporation of Alive For Christ Ministries, Inc. were filed with the North Carolina Department of The Secretary of State February 8, 2011.

After securing a worship location, the first Sunday Worship service was held February 6, 2011, at Wilson Middle School at 7020 Tuckaseegee Road. We continued to meet at this location through the end of June 2011. Due to the closing of Wilson Middle School by Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, we moved our Sunday Worship service to Hornets Nest Elementary School at 6700 Beatties Ford Road.

On April 3, 2011, Elder Melvin Davis was ordainedas Founder and Pastor of Alive For Christ Ministries and Sister Clarissa Gardner Davis was ordained as Deaconess under the Partners to the Promise Conference of Churches. After much prayer and searching, God blessed Alive For Christ Ministries with a place to call our own; where we continued to do full time ministry and increase in Christ.

On Sunday, March 4, 2012, Alive For Christ Ministries held the first worship service in the new location at 645-H Pressley Road, Charlotte, NC 28217. In 2020, live For Christ Ministries received blessings over blessings with the purchase of a place of worship that includes a fellowship hall and recreation house located at 207 Hoover Avenue NE, Concord, NC.

Future plans for Elder Melvin Davis and AFCM are to follow our Pastor as he follows Christ, serving the community and edifying the Saints

"We love our church. We are a small congregation and being as such, we all know each other. When we lost our mother/grandmother in November 2023, we wondered how we would be able to return to church without her. She loved AFCM so much. I think of the time when she was released from the hospital on a Friday and pressed her way to church on Sunday. She loved Pastor, First Lady and every member. Our church was her happy place, so knowing this we knew her spirit would always be here with us."

"On behalf of my wife, Linda Brown Rice and myself. It is our honor and privilege to say that it has been a wonderful journey for the past 14 years to be under the leadership of Elder Dr. Melvin Davis and First Lady Clarissa Davis. We have a beautiful caring congregation. We believe in the church's mission and purpose. I am looking forward to the coming years of spiritual guidance, service, dedication and future opportunities."

"I remember when we were in between Churches, and my Late Aunt Mary said to me that we were at a fork in the road about where we should fellowship. We agreed to continue with Elder Melvin Davis because we trusted him and knew of his desire to Shepherd his own House of Worship. This has been the best decision in our lives and family. Our walk in this Christian Journey has been strengthened with our families who have seen God's Word shining in our lives. Personally, I have gained more knowledge about God's Word through Elder Davis teaching and preaching. I encourage all to stop by any Sunday Morning, bring your Bible which is God's Sword and sit a while to hear God's Word come to life. You will be encouraged to be God's Disciple and equip others in sharing the Gospel."
