MEET PASTOR DAVIS
A Glimpse Into The Life and Ministry of Pastor Melvin Davis.
Pastor Melvin Davis, the eleventh of twelve children born to the late Arthur Davis, Sr. and Lizzie Smash Davis, was reared in Franklin, LA.
Throughout his childhood and his adult life, he has delivered the Gospel by music. He moved to Charlotte, NC in 1971 and began to further his knowledge of music at Central Piedmont Community College.
His music accomplishments include having produced and recorded his first gospel album with the Alive for Christ Singers, a group he founded in 1986. Melvin Davis and the Alive For Christ Singers were blessed with a second recording in 1998.
After enrolling into Greater Commission Theological Seminary to enhance his Bible study, Pastor Davis answered his call to the ministry in September 1998 and preached his initial sermon in October 1999.
His desire to continue to learn and grow, pushed him to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology in May 2001. While working as an owner-operator truck driver, he earned his master’s degree in biblical education in 2016 and his Doctoral degree in 2020 from Partners to the Promise School of Christian Education.
On April 3, 2011, Elder Melvin Davis was ordained as Founder and Pastor of Alive For Christ Ministries (as well as his wife as Deaconess) under the Partners to the Promise Conference of Churches.
Pastor Davis has been married to Clarissa Gardner Davis for 48 years and they had one daughter, Ashlei Dionne, who has gone to be with the Lord.
MEET FIRST LADY DAVIS
A Glimpse Into The Life and Ministry of First Lady Davis.
First Lady Clarissa G. Davis is the devoted wife of Elder Dr. Melvin Davis, pastor of Alive for Christ Ministries, Concord, NC.
Born in Rahway, NJ, her parents moved back home to Mount Holly, NC when she was a toddler. She gave her life to Christ at an early age
in her home church, New Providence Baptist Church, Mount Holly, NC where her parents brought her and her two younger sisters to church.
After graduating from the local schools, she furthered her education at Gaston Community College where she studied Business Administration.
Clarissa Gardner met Melvin Davis in September 1972, and they were wed in July 1976. First Lady sang with the Alive For Christ Singers,
a gospel group that was formed by Elder Davis. God allowed them to travel over the United States ministering the word of God in song.
Following Elder Davis’ call to the ministry, she was ordained to serve as Deaconess at Alive For Christ Ministries, which was founded by her
husband, Elder Davis. Shortly after Alive For Christ Ministries was formed and incorporated in 2011, First Lady had a vision for a women’s ministry.
In 2015, the S.A.L.T. Ministry (Sowing and Laboring Together) was organized. We as Christians are the salt and light of a fallen world,
and we are to look to help others in need and to let them see Christ through our actions. The S.A.L.T. Ministry has served the communities in
both Charlotte and Concord, NC. We thank God for how He has used us to be a blessing to others. There is still so much more to be done. She currently serves as interim Church Administrator, while also serving as the pastor’s Executive Assistant, and Financial Secretary.
First Lady can witness to the fact that God will fulfill His promises as it has been demonstrated repeatedly in her life. To God be the Glory!
As Christians, we should not let anything take our eyes from our goal—knowing Christ!
“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for
which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:14 (NLT)
